As every hotel watcher should know, this summer Starwood Hotels launched two new hotel brands, Aloft Hotels and Element Hotels. While we've seen picture after picture and review after review of the Aloft brand, very little has been said about the Element brand.

Maybe Element having only 1 location in Lexington Mass vs Aloft's 15 or so locations throughout the US (and.. Canada) plays a small part in that, but nonetheless -

We came across a flickr album this week from piefight which have given us the most detailed look yet at the inside of the Element Lexington, showing the rooms, lobby, restaurant and exterior of the building. While the Wall Street Journal has given element a review of "the extended stay of the future" we think they need to add a few colors to their walls.

Is it just us - or does everything look bare?!

Now obviously, this isn’t a review of the service or amenities (WSJ has that here, and has nothing but nice things to say about Element) but just from an appearance standpoint, Starwood needs to open up another can of paint besides white - maybe a little green, or brown, or something! The walls of the room are just too white, the walls and ceiling of the lobby/food area are just too white. Ahh!

Fortunately the color scheme isn’t enough to keep people away as the whole element idea is just too great to not become popular.
