The historic Colonnade Hotel in Boston -- best known for its rooftop pool and Dow Jones-based room rates -- has just completed a renovation (to the tune of $20 million) and is now up and running, boasting a more eco-conscious and tech-savvy style.

On the green end of things, every window has been replaced with energy efficient panes, energy-saving heating and ventilating systems have been installed (turned off in between check outs and check ins), and the hotel is the first in the nation to implement ElectroCide cleaning, a completely nontoxic cleaning process that essentially eliminates the use of bleach within the hotel.

The lobby's been redone and the rooms have been upgraded with more high-tech amenities (flatscreens, DVD players, iPod docking stations and significantly more power outlets).

If you're headed to Beantown for the Boston Film Festival in September (or the Neil Diamond concert in a couple weeks if that's more your scene), check out the Colonnade and let us know how you like it.

Maybe it was the whole Bulls and Bears package, but for some reason, when we think of The Colonnade we have visions of rich older men in rumpled business suits drinking scotch. So can someone please check out the scene at the restaurant (Brasserie Jo) for us and report back?
