In honor of Ringo Starr's 68th birthday yesterday, the Windy City -- thanks to the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago -- received healthy doses of the four best things in the world: peace, love, cupcakes...and Ringo himself.

In a recent interview, the former (and forever cute) Beatles drummer said he'd like it if everyone in the world would drop everything and flash a peace sign at noon on his birthday. Upon hearing this, staffers at the Hard Rock Hotel decided to throw a peace-themed party in his honor and invited him to stop by.

The Chicago Tribune had the scoop on the party, which drew a 300-person, happy-birthday-singing crowd to see him standing there (ha):

"It's a fantasy, and it's a dream I have," Starr said Monday, "that one minute, one day, one month, one year, everyone will go peace and love."

The aptly named Perfect Peace Cafe and Bakery in Chicago's Gresham neighborhood was chosen to bake about 300 miniature cupcakes that were distributed to members of the crowd, as well as a sheet cake bearing the Hard Rock logo.

It warms our hearts to see the Hard Rock Chicago throwing parties full of cupcakes, love and peace -- because its Vegas counterpart is, well, usually more focused on cupsizes, lovin' and...not peace. Sigh.
