Okay, we've found it, a cocktail bar that fits our wildest dreams: a place where the cocktail is the main course and everything else fits around it. The clever place with this idea is a new bar called edge (no capitals, thumbs down) at the luxury Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain in Arizona.

If you didn't know, Sanctuary is billed as more of a retreat than a hotel and it aims to offer amenities that cater to the "mind, body, spirit and senses" of its guests. But we guess the retreat must understand that even yogis need to let loose once in a while too.

edge is an outdoor bar built on a wooden deck slightly below the elements restaurant, and it's filled with outdoor sofas to give you a comfortable view over the sunset while you sip your cocktail. The other bit that sounds positive are some of the more unusual cocktails on the menu.

The bar employs "elevated mixology" technique which essentially infuses natural ingredients and anti-oxidants into your favorite poison of choice.

Our drink of choice right now would be the edge sangria, made with plum sake, yuzu and lychee juices and shiso leaves. Very refreshing, we're sure, even if they won't give their bar the capital letter it deserves. Another drink that catches our eye? The bikini martini made with cachaca, limoncello and passion fruit.

Drinks at the edge bar are not so exorbitantly priced, considering what the sanctuary's like--the cocktails all go for $14 each. But if you go mid-week you'll be disappointed, because the new bar is only open from Thursday to Sunday evenings.
