Curtis Bashaw on the roof of The Chelsea

Right now we were expecting to be packed and ready to go to the opening party for The Chelsea tomorrow in Atlantic City, but unfortunately we have to sleep in our own beds instead.

While guests have been able to sleep at The Chelsea, they won't be able to use the pool or partake in the nightlife and Stephen Starr dining that The 5th Floor is set to offer. As for the spa, well that probably will not open until November. Thompson LES, you are not alone! The Chelsea AC is here for you.

Why the hold up? Well the Observer put in their two-cents as to why many boutique hotels seem to be constantly delayed, focusing on Jason Pomeranc (you know, king of soft-openings at Thompson Hotels) who said:

"It's really more important for us to design and create an impressive product, and one that we are going to be proud of and lasts a very long time, than it is to rush things and have something be extraordinarily commercial and uninteresting."

We're guessing Curtis Bashaw would say the same. Until then, we'll be keeping abreast of The Chelsea AC's soft-opening status here.
