The hotel's top-notch reputation and sophisticated look is due in large part to NEAL (Jerry O'Connell, "Crossing Jordan") at least in his opinion.
Although The Inn's charismatic owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all the credit, Neal is the egotistical, hyper-stylish, detail-oriented general manager who will do whatever it takes to keep the hotel and its employees up to his standards.
RHONDA (Niecy Nash, "Reno 911!") is the head of Human Resources who also keeps Neal's demands in check. She's brash, fabulous and brutally honest and runs the HR department from her bullpen downstairs with a set of rules that are all her own.
Rhonda does her best to keep the back of the house in line and the front of the house out of trouble.
Uh-oh. The last time a hotel brought their human resources manager to the front and center was on Welcome to the Parker and we all know how that turned out.
Rounding out the other "Inn" people are a snooty front desk clerk clod in 6-inch Manolos, a modelesque bellman without a brain, a wannabe Britney Spears reservations clerk and a head of housekeeping who pays more attention to his home problems than the hotel messes.
We watched a preview video of the show here and it really doesn't look that funny...especially if you aren't a hotel geeek. However, we did chuckle over Neal/Jerry's insistence that the front desk girls wear high heels. His reason? "Hot chicks in high heels" turn me on.
The rest of the show we don't care much for. But if the show's writers are looking for some real-life inspiration, why don't they have the hotel half-open like any one of the Thompson Hotels that have opened in the past year? That would make for some hilarious dramedy!
The half-hour show is set to air on Wednesday nights at 9:30pm.
