Jerry O'Connell To Star as Hotel General Manager in TV Show "Do Not Disturb"

July 31, 2008 at 12:34 PM | by | Comments (13)

We had actually heard that a show about a hip boutique hotel was in the works a few months ago. But back then, all we heard was that Reno 911's Nicey Nash was filming a pilot episode.

But now, there is like full confirmation that this show, called Do Not Disturb, is going to air and it's cast soon-to-be-daddy-of-twins Jerry O'Connell as the hotel's anal general manager, Nash as the head of human resources, Robert Wagner as the egotistical owner and some lesser-known actors as the hotel employees.

Full description of show here:

DO NOT DISTURB (working title) is a hilarious workplace comedy set at one of New York City's hottest and hippest hotels: The Inn. Named one of the Big Apple's "10 Best Places to Stay," The Inn is just that the "in" place to be, with its chic decor, stylish staff and celebrity clientele.

Behind the scenes, however, the upstairs/downstairs dynamic tells quite a different story.

Keep reading for more on the show.

The hotel's top-notch reputation and sophisticated look is due in large part to NEAL (Jerry O'Connell, "Crossing Jordan") at least in his opinion.

Although The Inn's charismatic owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all the credit, Neal is the egotistical, hyper-stylish, detail-oriented general manager who will do whatever it takes to keep the hotel and its employees up to his standards.

RHONDA (Niecy Nash, "Reno 911!") is the head of Human Resources who also keeps Neal's demands in check. She's brash, fabulous and brutally honest and runs the HR department from her bullpen downstairs with a set of rules that are all her own.

Rhonda does her best to keep the back of the house in line and the front of the house out of trouble.

Uh-oh. The last time a hotel brought their human resources manager to the front and center was on Welcome to the Parker and we all know how that turned out.

Rounding out the other "Inn" people are a snooty front desk clerk clod in 6-inch Manolos, a modelesque bellman without a brain, a wannabe Britney Spears reservations clerk and a head of housekeeping who pays more attention to his home problems than the hotel messes.

We watched a preview video of the show here and it really doesn't look that funny...especially if you aren't a hotel geeek. However, we did chuckle over Neal/Jerry's insistence that the front desk girls wear high heels. His reason? "Hot chicks in high heels" turn me on.

The rest of the show we don't care much for. But if the show's writers are looking for some real-life inspiration, why don't they have the hotel half-open like any one of the Thompson Hotels that have opened in the past year? That would make for some hilarious dramedy!

The half-hour show is set to air on Wednesday nights at 9:30pm.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star as Hotel General Manag

its funny. i just prefer to think of him as the fat kid in Stand By Me than anything that he has done since.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star as Hotel GM

I give it maybe four episodes before cancellation.

Four?!

Really? I was hoping for one.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star as Hotel General Manag

one and done, please.

For the Hotel Sit-Com Category

There's Fawlty Towers...and that's it.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star

Critics soon will retitle it "Do Not Watch."
P.S. Fawlty Towers AND recent BBC dramedy Hotel Babylon.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star

Why am I the only one who seems to remember Jerry O'Connell soley from the show "My Secret Identity"? I used to watch that show every Sunday morning! Right before Knight Rider and A-Team.

oh please

isn't Nicey Nash the chick who hosts "Clean House" on the Style Network and invades peoples privacy but gets away with it because she has flowers in her hair all the time? Oh my God, yes she IS. And don't lie, we're all going to be watching this show. It comes on after ANTM and it only competes with that stupid Stylista elle magazine show. so let's just be real about this for two seconds.

Re: Jerry O'Connell To Star as Hotel General Manag

I'm not a betting man but if I was, I'd put an entire dollar on reviews of the place going up on TripAdvisor before the show airs.

This looks like such a stupid show. I will not be wasting my precious time with this piece of garbage.
