MaMaison Hotels Not to Be Confused with MalMaison Hotels

MaMaison Riverside Hotel in Prague.

Over in Europe, we just realized there are two hotel chains that have very similar names--MaMaison and MalMaison.

The latter we are familiar with as we have written about their funky boutique hotels (one is out of an old jailhouse) located all over the UK. But MaMaison had us intrigued.

According to its website, MaMaison has hotels and apartments throughout Central and Eastern Europe, perfect for guests who are looking for accommodations for "one day or one year."

MaMaison Hotels are Moscow, Prague (three here), Warsaw, Budapest, Bratislava, Ostrava, Hver (Croatia) and Katowice/Bielsko-Biała in Poland.

The MaMaison rooms overall are seemingly modern with the latest amenities (like free WiFi--yippee!) even if the hotel building itself is rather old. But the collection does have some "five-star" luxury properties like the MaMaison Pachtuv Palace in Prague, an actual palace hotel. And rates are do-able. You can find a room for under 200 Euros in one of these properties and there are special offers at each hotel. The palace of course is a little pricier.

Considering a stay at the MaMaison Riverside Hotel in Prague? Wait until September when the hotel completes a $18 million renovation that will double the amount of rooms.

Have you stayed at a MaMaison Hotel before? Do tell!
