Times are tough. The dollar is low, gas prices are high; the food we like is too expensive and the weather is too hot. In our current cash-strapped, landlocked, sweaty and hungry state, we have actually considered hitting the streets with a "Will Blog for Food" sign to solve our monetary and gastronomical troubles.

We guess maybe someone out there was so hungry and sweaty that they actually did stand on some block somewhere with a similar sign, because now the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort is offering free food to people who blog.

The resort -- the same one that offers the Fertile Turtle Package that encourages couples to conceive amongst the horny sea turtles -- is now rewarding guests who share their experiences (of their stay) over on the hotel's blog. The GM of the property monitors the submissions and the "most captivating entries" each month receive a $50 gift card to use for dining upon their next visit.

It looks like the only way for guests to submit entries directly to the blog is via the comments on each of the posts. And unfortch, after looking through the blog, it looks like the word "blog" is interpreted as "generous collection of gushy, praise-y letters about the hotel", but, you know, even we'll say something nice about a resort experience for a free meal.

Speaking of eating, the resort has five restaurants on property (and guests save on gas because they won't have to leave the resort! Always thinkin'!) and the Paradise Deliciously Package helps guests get fed for a bit less dough. It includes 20% off resort dining, overnight accommodations and a choice of two meals per person each night (starting at $349). Good for gathering up material for that blog post.
