At the legendary Ahwahnee Hotel inside Yosemite, which is believe it or not a luxury hotel, the hotel is operating on a generator but supposedly still fully booked. However, there have been some cancellations since the fire hit and even staying overnight there now is not pretty.
The guests have mostly stayed in camp, with a handful seeking special attention from the hotel's medical clinic for asthma-related issues. "Some of the guests that have stayed have complained of poor air quality and visibility," [employee Barbara Cash] said.
The Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal was offering a full refund to its guests if they decided the smoke was too much to handle. in the meantime, the hotel was handling out candles and flashlights to guests as power was completely out.
All this is unpleasant for a vacation but probably pales in comparison to the fires in Greece which have caused European vacationers from a strip of holiday resorts on Rhodes. Yikes, safe travels everyone!
