More drama - but literal drama with actors - went down at the Hotel Gansevoort South in Miami this week. And there was some burning, too - but luckily no actual fires broke out this time.

USA Network's Burn Notice (which is apparently a show about "covert agents") was filming around the Gansevoort South pool and the extras involved were treated like crap.

The New York Post reports:

Extras were complaining "that the people in charge treat them like slaves," said our spy. "They roast in the sun all day and are given just 20-minute lunch breaks."

So far, pretty much nothing good has happened at the Gansevoort South since its opening. Add it to the list.

I can see how this could happen.  Staff is not approachable.  I inquired at the check in desk on the roof about a cabana that had been reserved for our group.  When the girl didn't see the first name I gave her we were asked to "SIT DOWN OVER THERE AND WAIT........"  As soon as the person in charge appeared, I gave him a couple of names and at the suggestion of the third name the service immediately inproved.  "Oh yes m'am. Right this way m'am. Sorry for the inconvenience m'am.  Let's set you up right here and get a staff person to take your drink order."

Service was iffy at best even though the F&B manager walked around passing out business cards like crazy.  The best bet there is to order a pitcher of something ($$$$$!) and hope for the best!
