The blog, run by Ed Hamilton, says:
Their concerns are valid--ranging from not wanting to give their money to a band of scoundrels to a fear that they might get caught up in the political struggle--and no one would blame them if they chose to spend their money elsewhere. At the present time, however, we are still urging friends of the hotel to come and be our guests while the place still retains a hint of its old edgy charm. (Don't forget to tell them at the desk to BRING BACK THE BARDS!)
We agree that this place is definitely worth a look or a stay. And with the takeover situation spiraling way out of control, who knows how much longer this slice of bohemia can be preserved. Plus, the room rates here are totally reasonable compared to almost every other hotel in New York starting at $119 a night.
However, just keep in mind that this is not your traditional hotel experience. So don't be expecting room service, chocolates on the pillows and in-room fitness gear. Although, the never-ending staircases will give you a good workout.
