Dubai Gets Another Hotel Brand :: Baccarat Hotel & Residences

July 21, 2008 at 12:54 PM | 0 Comments

Now we can add Baccarat Hotel and Residences to Dubai's ever growing portfolio of hotels. Over the weekend, Starwood Capital and Mr. S himself, announced the Baccarat Hotel & Residences at Dubai Pearl.

For those who gave up keeping track of Dubai's developments years ago - Dubai Pearl is made up of retail, hotels, residences, and commercial components and is located right at the foot of the Palm Jumeriah (you know, the smaller of the 2 man-made islands in the shape of a palm tree.)

For those worried that the Baccarat will just blend in with the other hotels in Dubai, Barry Sternlicht quelled those fears at the announcement by saying:

For centuries Baccarat has built a reputation of providing elegant luxury products offering unparalleled beauty and flawless brilliance, and now we are thrilled to have the opportunity to craft these same elements in a prestigious destination such as Dubai Pearl.

So fortunately, this won't be a run-of-the-mill hotel, you know, like most Marriotts are.

This Baccarat will open in 2011 and have 342 hotel rooms, plus residences which will all be decorated in Baccarat style, a Baccarat boutique, and hopefully Baccarat's B Bar which looks to be swank, yet not too overpowering.

The whole Baccarat project is due to cost around $680 million dollars which is still chump change over there in Dubai. No word yet on the price of the entire Dubai Pearl project but it probably consists of more numbers than we have fingers and toes.
