Pools
Except for the pool in the Immersion Spa, all pools are open to any Water Club guest during their stay until 8PM. After 8PM the pool deck areas are open for guests to socialize.
Kiddies are welcome at all the pools except for one which is only open to guests 21 and up between 6 & 8PM daily. Thank heavens for that.
Unfortunately the pools offer no wide vistas of the Atlantic City skyline or the Atlantic Ocean, buuuut viewing the other people in the pool area more than, um, made up for the lack of ocean views.
One nice touch we liked was a flower placed on every pool chair along with two towels and an attentive staff who made sure that more towels were always easy to be found.
Once a guest left, the chair was immediately refreshed with new towels and a new flower.
Grub
Even though your parents told you to wait 30 minutes after you eat before you could go swimming, apparently nobody told The Water Club's Chef Geoffrey Zakarian.
All pool areas are served by very attentive waitresses who are more than eager to serve you food that goes way beyond what you would normally expect to find poolside.
We asked Geoffrey Zakarian, who is in charge of all the food at the Water Club (room service, sunroom bar, poolside, spa, special events), why he didn't open a signature restaurant at The Water Club, and if he had wanted too:
A signature restaurant was never in the plans for The Water Club. In fact, they only brought me on board toward the end of 2007, so even having a signature menu unique to the Water Club was a recent addition.
Town & Country [Geoffrey's two other Restaurants in New York City] are located in boutique hotels, so we have a lot of experience in running this type of operation.
Plus, it is a lot more difficult to run 5 different places [spa, pool, sunroom, room service & event space] versus one signature restaurant
Bottom Line
The Water Club completely lives up to it's name with five pools throughout the property and a pool area which is an oasis in the crazy city of Atlantic City.
Geoffrey Zakarian does an excellent job of providing a wide variety of food selections, but if you just need to sit down in a real restaurant, just take a quick walk to the Borgata with its 14 different restaurants and, well, that should satisfy you.
