HotelChatter || Wyndham Hotels To Populate Manhattan

I don't know how old this news is. I had heard it some time ago: Wyndham Hotels is opening a property this fall on 38th Street. Anyone know more about it?

Well, the answer is yes. There's a Wyndham Garden Hotel expected to open at 341 W. 36th Street in August. (We don't think they are actually making that opening date.) But that ain't the only Wyndham coming to town. There will be a total of four more by 2010.

We can thank Sam Chang for a few of these Wyndham properties that will grace Manhattan by 2009.

Chang and his McSam Hotel Group are behind the following:

37-39 West 24th Street
Expected Opening: November 2008

· Wyndham
20 Maiden Lane
Expected Opening: August 2009

The other Wyndhams are the following:

Expected Opening: August 2008

152-158 West 26th Street
Expected Opening: May 2010

· Wyndham
93 Bowery Street
Expected Opening: May 2009

That's right. A Wyndham in the Bowery! We can hardly believe it.

If you haven't stayed at a Wyndham before, then you might be lucky. This brand has been pretty lackluster in the past, although there have been recent efforts to transform the brand to at least been on par with a Sheraton. And that's not saying much.

On the bright side, we say you can't ever go wrong with a new hotel in New York City. At the very least, the sheets will be clean!
