Because some of us are self-centered New Yorkers, we did some digging and found that the Manhattan-based James will have 180 rooms and be located at 57th Street and 6th Avenue, the current site of the Buckingham Hotel, just two blocks from Central Park.
We never like to assume anything, but if pressed, we'd guess the hotel is being converted, as the Buckingham is still operational. If you've got an idea of what's going on here, let us know.
One thing's for sure: Being out hot-spotted--especially by a Midwestern city!--is a tough pill for the center of the universe to swallow, so we'd expect The James New York to top Chicago's cushy beds, chill staff, free Wi-Fi and celebrity-chef-helmed restaurant (Chicago features David Burke's Primehouse).
