Central location and easy access to transport and sightseeing spots have already made the Marque Hotel a decent choice for reasonably-priced hotels in sometimes expensive Sydney--but don't head back to stay there until the current renovations are finished, due to be completed by the end of August 2008.

But if you are in Sydney before then it might be worth heading to the Marque for dinner, because they've just opened the Script restaurant adjacent to the lobby.

They're talking up the fact that the head chef, James Leadbeater, has cooked for Celine Dion and Australian swimming star Ian Thorpe, so he can't be too shabby, but we prefer to let bits of the menu speak for themselves.

A starter of salt and Szechuan pepper crusted squid with chilli and orange caramel and coriander sounds like a pretty tasty combination and the idea of a lavender crème brulee for dessert is pretty tempting too. We don't have any first-hand feedback on the real taste of Script yet but the first impressions are good, and we're feeling pretty peckish after reading their menu.
