Room With an Anti-View: Buy Your Carpets Here, Qatar Palace Urges

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Al-Asmakh St, Doha, Qatar

You know the scene. You open the door to your brand new hotel room, run over to the window, open the blinds and bam, you are hit with the anti-view. Maybe you are looking down a dirty alley, witnessing a drug deal, staring at an air shaft in the face, or seeing a brick wall. Whatever you are viewing it is not extremely pleasurable. Help out your fellow hotel mavens by uploading your anti-views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number with the not-so-easy-on-the-eyes view.

This view out of the Qatar Palace Hotel in Doha is definitely an anti-view--it's clearly unattractive--but it did, at least, make us laugh a bit.

We don't hit too many hotels in Qatar but the idea of staring out over the Qatar Carpet Centre is somehow pretty cool. Qatar Palace Hotel is a 40-room, four story place with various restaurants right nearby, and its best feature: it's the most convenient hotel in town if you're planning on buying a carpet.

    visiting Doha soon

    Hey Amanda,

I have fun reading your witty entry on Qatar Palace Hotel :)... i stumbled onto your entry when i was trying to find out more info about this hotel (which was recommended by Lonely Planet), as i am hoping to stay here while visiting Doha on 13th Dec 2008.

Besides the proximity of carpet store to the hotel...:), I was wondering if you could provide me your honest opinion about it (in terms of room, cleanliness, accessibility from airport, hotel service, etc)? I tried finding out more travellers reviews about it from the internet but it's quite sparse, or rather, non-existent. Plus, the hotel url www.qatarpal.com.qa, provided by Lonely Planet also doesnt seem to work anymore.

Also, if you have a positive time and recommend the hotel, could you tell me how you book with them? by phone?

I am going to travel alone to Doha (a 1-2 nights stopover) as a 26 yr old woman, thus the slight apprehension about all these details.

I would be grateful if you could reply me. I will be checking back this site, or you can write me at jw_goh@yahoo.com.

    thanks!
