Ok, you Left Coast-based photography junkies -- ready to win a full year of hotel accommodations? That's the premise of JDV Hospitality's "Your California" Photo Contest.
So how does it work? Submit your photograph of any and everything in California, from the Napa vineyards and the pier in Santa Monica to surfers, deserts, and modern homes in Palm Springs, the sky's the limit -- to the hotel's online social network, California Connect.
The contest is accepting submissions now through August 31. Just opt in, and you can submit as many photos as you want. A jury of your peers will vote on their favorite image, with a winner chosen in September.
And the prizes? That entirely depends on how you categorize yourself when you submit.
There are four sets of prizes according to your category: Photo journalist, Amateur, Joie de Vivre Hotel employee, and Southwest Airlines employee. Every category winner gets free stays at the hotel chain (except employees -- they get two paid days off!); Click here to read much more about the entry rules, winning prizes, and specs for photo submissions.
The grand prize winner, natch, gets the booty: Gratis accommodations for one full year at JDV Hotels ("limited to one visit at each hotel, three nights maximum per visit - blackouts/availability limits may apply"), and six Southwestern tickets anywhere within California.
We really REALLY like this contest -- firstly, because with 28 hotels, from Big Sur and Brentwood to Marin and Silicon Valley, you can get a good taste of the state, and the price is right, given the economy.
Note to San Francisco residents: You can score big; with all the hotels in the Bay area, you can stay in a JDV hotel throughout the year, for a total of 50 days. Just don't forget to check your mail once in a while.
