The other week we found out that the Trump Marina Hotel would turn into a Margaritaville Hotel & Casino which we thought would be the first one to open. Yet Hotel Maven PalmettoSon pointed us to the Margaritaville already in the works in Biloxi, MS.

Jimmy Buffett and Harrah's have paired up to build a massive hotel down there, one of the metro areas in Mississippi hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

The hotel chain plans to spend more than $700 million this summer building the hotel, casino, restaurant, and cabanas, with a final budget of more than $100B. (Thassright, billion.)

The hotel will have 420 rooms in addition to the 378 rooms from the existing Casino Magic property which will be fully renovated. A full-service spa will be included (we foresee a Margarita salt scrub treatment happening here) and of course, a state-of-the-art Margaritaville Restaurant that anchors the entire property.

The hotel won't be completed until 2010 but for fanatics and parrotheads, check out the hotel's Construction-cam.

Tell us: Would you stay in a Margaritaville Hotel & Casino or are you Hooters all the way baby?

Re: Harrahs To Roll Out Buffett's Margaritaville

Guess I'll chime in here. I appreciate the "maven" title. I do work in the industry, but this is the first time I've been bestowed with that moniker.

I've seen some renderings, both interior and exterior, as I've taken some interest in this project as both a former Gulf Coast resident and current Jimmy Buffett fan.

The property looks to be be quite luxurious (in a fittingly breezy, coastal sort of way). It'll be interesting to see how the final product compares to the plans, but it looks like they are going for a 4 Diamond rating. I'd definitely stay there.

Re: Harrahs To Rolls Out Buffett's

Where did these Margaritaville Casinos come from all the sudden? I go from visiting Margaritaville in Grand Caymen last week and being upset that I'd never see another one for another year, to all the sudden three margaritaville casinos are opening up around America!

I wonder if the cocktail waitresses will give out free margaritas to slot players, if not, its just not worth it.

Three? Did I miss something, Andrew? I know of Biloxi and Atlantic City. There's going to be a Margaritaville Cafe at Foxwoods, and there's one already in Vegas, but as far as I know, only two casino/hotels in the works... for now.
