Today is the official "demolition party" at the Hotel Royal Monceau in Paris.
In anticipation of a complete redesign, the hotel auctioned off all of its furnishings last week -- everything from lamps to minibars. Now, the owners are holding a VIP destruction event where guests are encouraged to smash anything leftover.
In between fits of annihilation, partygoers can enjoy performances from select Parisian musicians and DJs.
This is very similar to what the Hotel Alcala did in Spain last year, thus leading us to believe that Hotel Demolition Parties might be the next hottest hotel trend.
As for the hotel, it will reopen in April 2009 as a Raffles Resort. It's new name will be Le Royal Monceau - A Raffles Hotel.
