First off, this location is being built on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the Pacific Ocean just outside of a national forest preserve, (that would NEVER be allowed to happen in America) and to please all the environmentalists the developers have gone above and beyond making it an environmentally friendly and "carbon-neutral" development.

The building which houses the hotel will be seven stories, but as you can tell from the rendering above, it only looks as though it's three stories and fits in perfectly with the land features around it. Chalk that up to some ingenious architecture skillz!

The entire development is going to be LEED Gold Certified with green road construction, power from the tide changes, locally produced furniture, geothermal temperature control, countertops from the rock on the property. Wow. This place should be an environmentalist's wet dream!

But don't worry, this is still a five-star hotel, you won't find a straw mattress in the room or the local bohemian group meeting in the hallway, and electricity will be provided 24/7. The 180-room hotel will also have a restaurant, spa, wine-bistro and freshwater pools, and next to the hotel will be a Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole golf course.

When can you look to help the environment while indulging yourself in all this 1 Hotel goodness? Probably not until 2012, as ground won't be broken in early 2009 and it's expected to take three years for it to be completed. It should be worth the wait.
