Pop-Up Hotel Rooms :: Like Really Nice Porta-Potties You Can Sleep In

Every music festival we've ever been to has had an army of porta-potties imported for the occassion, shining like blue-green beacons in the sunlight just beyond the stage. We're always grateful for them, since our activities during such events go no further than eating, drinking, peeing, sleeping, and repeating.
We can score goodies to eat and drink at the festival, the porta-potties have us covered on the peeing part -- but the sleeping part? Well, now that we've grown older than 18 and have left behind the age in which it was acceptable and even preferable to pitch a tent with our buddies and crash for the night, we're gonna need a hotel.
Enter French company Abilmo, whose "pop-up" hotel room was conceived precisely for this situation.
Touted as "a distinctive solution to the accommodation of your guests in near proximity of any major event," Abilmo is to hotel rooms what porta potties are to bathrooms.
According to the blog Shea Anything:
Founded in late 2007, Abilmo offers temporary hotel rooms 12 square meters in size with wood flooring, wood furniture and private bathrooms including toilet, shower and hot water. Featuring cloth-hung ceilings and low-voltage lighting, the units also offer thermal and acoustic insulation along with individual heating and air-conditioning. The French-made rooms are instantly available to create a pop-up hotel for use inside or outside at such events as festivals, seminars and sports events lasting anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Awesome, right? Since the rooms can be collapsed fully, they are easy for Abilmo's staff to transport and assemble.
We're loving this idea -- and are very happy to hear that extra security is available from the company (because sleeping in a portable room in the middle of Bonnaroo could result in some very special people coming a-knockin' at our door).
Sadly, we may not see these things on our side of the pond for a while, as they are currently available only in France.
