Get your hot dogs, sunscreen and beer guts ready: Independence Day is just over two weeks away! If you're headed to a big city for some fireworks fun, we'll be taking a look at hotels with prime fireworks views. Have a favorite hotel for gawking at bombs bursting in air? Send it our way.

We couldn't possibly do a series on Fourth of July Hotels without mention of Washington, D.C.

The Churchill Hotel near Dupont Circle and Embassy Row is offering a Fourth of July package with great rates and all the equipment necessary to experience the various patriotic festivites and fireworks on the National Mall.

D.C. will keep you busy on the Fourth: there's the Independence Day Parade in the morning, a concert on the steps of the Capitol in the evening, and fireworks over the reflecting pool at night. If being patriotic isn't really your thing, the city offers yummy food and fantastic shopping.

Valid July 4th and July 5th only, the Fourth of July package starts at a pleasant $139 and includes two-day Metro passes, an upgraded guest room, a fleece blanket (to snuggle under or sit on during the fireworks) and a meal for two to go (in case that national pride makes you hungry).

Bonus: built in 1906, the Churchill belongs to the Historic Hotels of America group, a sub-group of the National Trust organization. This means you have license to run around on the National Mall telling people you are staying in an official historic hotel and maybe -- just maybe -- it will make you look that much cooler.

    The Willard and Mandarin Oriental Hotels both have prime locations for watching the fireworks - and I know the Willard has some special offers (although Mandarin probably does too).
