Basically, goldpoints members earn 1,500-2,000 points for every $100 spent at a Carlson Hotel. 2,000 points = 250 miles on any one of 20 airlines, 15,000 points = a free hotel stay, and. . . oh, it's Monday. We're confused already. But wait!
Enter Do the Math, Carlson's newest goldpoints website. Essentially, it's a calculator that allows you to input how many nights per year you stay at any hotel, and the amount of money you typically spend per night to stay there.
It will calculate the number of points you'll earn as a goldpoints plus member, how many free nights you'll score and how many frequent flier miles you'll get. And then--the kicker--it compares the results to what you'd earn with the loyalty programs at Marriott, Hilton, Starwood, Hyatt and IHG.
There's lots of fine print, of course, but the calculator is pretty cool if you can get past the freaky dude with the floating arm. Plus, we like it when people do math for us on Monday mornings and then offer us free stuff.
