Earlier today, VacantReady's Chris tipped us off to a breaking news story that does not appear to be a joke: Brad Pitt is going to be designing a hotel.
The actor announced today that he is set to work with Zabeel properties to help design an America-themed (seriously) hotel and resort in Dubai.
The project, which aims to be an "environmentally sustainable" 800-room luxury property, will include Pitt as a designer working with GRAFT, the LA-based architecture firm behind Hotel Q and Lohan hotspot Marquee.
We are having trouble understanding exactly why Brad Pitt, who has plenty on his plate (with a gaggle of children, movies all over the place and, you know, a pregnant Angelina) would decide to venture into the international hotel business now.
And beyond familial and work duties, hasn't Brad learned from George Clooney's Las Ramblas fiasco for which Brad was also supposed to help design?
Even more, as Chris pointed out, how is Brad going to manage the crappy treatment of the lowly construction workers in place across the Middle East? Angelina will flip! Or at least adopt three more kids just to piss him off.
Well, in a statement, Brad offered one explanation as to why he's signed onto the project:
Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion. Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision.
And Scott Feasey, CEO of Dubai's Expression FZ Marketing Agency, gives a slightly different perspective:
Dubai has attracted celebrities to its projects as a means of marketing them to an international audience.
Ah, yes. Marketing. We say: can't wait to see this one unfold! We just hope he pays enough attention to preggers Angie during all of this...
