The Better:
· Free Wifi--and movies!
· During the reservation process you select a theme so that the hotel can customize your stay, setting the room with your preferred room temperature, favorite music and wake-up call time.
· The hotel offers a few lux-type amenities at a bargain price (about $105), including a rain shower, flatscreen TV and floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows.
· Each room comes with a Philips Moodpad, which you set to wake you up, open the blinds and turn on the lights, air conditioning and TV. Sort of like a hip version of The Clapper.
The Worse:
· Only a curtain separates the bathroom from the rest of your room, a big ew! should you be shacking up with someone else.
· All rooms are equal, so no chances of an upgrade.
· To keep costs low, you can only reserve via the Internets, so if you're the type of person who likes to actually talk to someone, tough luck.
· A 500 euro charge will be applied to your credit card if you decide to take The Clapper--er, Moodpad--with you.
As always, if you stay at the hotel following its opening later this month, be sure to come back and let us know how it was.
We hope it's a good one, as CitizenM has an aggressive expansion plan: After the opening of the chain's second property near Amsterdam's World Trade Centre later this year, CitizenM is targeting to open 10 hotels per year in such places as London, Barcelona, Glasgow and Paris.
