Thom Filicia, the interior design dude from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (may it rest in peace), has apparently graduated from redecorating gross dudes' apartments and has taken his talents straight (har har) to the W San Diego.
The hotel's lounge spaces -- the lobby lounge, poolside bar and rooftop bar -- are undergoing huge renovations this summer and Thom's design firm, Thom Filicia Interiors has partnered up with W San Diego's design team.
The vision:
W's newly designed spaces [will] reflect the city's "comfort couture" with bold prints, organic materials and intimate interior cabanas lined with rich wood louver paneling. Featuring one-of-a-kind So Cal inspired art installations, an eye-in-the-sky DJ booth, a redesigned poolside bar and sundeck, this property re-fresh brings the sand and surf away from the shore to meet urban sophistication as only W can.
The lobby lounge ("Living Room") and the pool-area lounges Wet and Veranda Bar will open in August, while the new rooftop bar, Beach, won't be unveiled til sometime this fall. And we're hoping the actual spaces look better than this early rendering.
Jeez, this Queer Eye show sure was lucrative for Thom -- he was also involved in design aspects of the W Westwood and the W Atlanta-Buckhead. All things just keep getting better!
