WTF Hotel News :: Regent Hotels Drops Another One; Backs Out of Boston Property Before Opening

Amazingly, Regent Hotels have done it again--that is, dropped out of another hotel project. This time its the Regent at Battery Wharf in Boston that was dropped.
The Boston Globe reports:
In a joint statement, Regent and Battery Wharf said they have "entered into discussions to terminate" their agreement, and blamed "philosophical differences on strategies for the project." Regent spokesman Thomas Polski, declined to comment further.
Ah yes...the old "philosophical differences". Otherwise known in these parts as money.
The hotel will now be known as The Battery Wharf Hotel and will not open until sometime in the Fall. The hotel also has 105 condo units attached which are priced from $1 million to $4 million but only 22 have been sold. Now the hotel must find a new comparable luxury hotel operator to install in the place.
Regent also recently backed out of a management agreement with the Regent South Beach after about a year. We even asked back then if they would drop out of the Boston project after a year too. But we guess they decided to jump ship earlier.
Thanks TonyT for the tip!
