While it's definitely the off-season for Palm Springs right now, it's also the best time to take advantage of cheap room rates at some of the desert's best hotels. We'll be rounding up some of the Palm Springs area's (including Palm Desert) most notable hotels this month. Got any suggestions or questions? Let us know.

Yes, this picture was taken this year. Hard to believe, we know.
If you want the opposite experience of a Palm Desert retreat, and instead want to be near the action of downtown Palm Springs, then the Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs might be for you.
This oddly-shaped hotel (we think its like a trapezoid) is located on Palm Canyon Drive, right smack in the middle of where everything goes off at night. All rooms are one-bedroom suites with their own private balcony, granting you plenty of space to recuperate from a hangover at a boozy night out.
However, there is a catch to being close to all the action.
The hotel seems to be coasting on its location as several guests feel the rooms and decor are outdated. And if you want to be near the bars of downtown, that means you will also be near the noises from people spilling out of the bars at 2am.
The rooms are very old with everything outdated. As noted before if you have a room that faces the street forget about sleeping. The workout area is so small why have one? I have seen better at Hamption inns. The only positive is breakfast starts at 6AM if your leaving early. Hyatt should pull it's name off this hotel. Stay away!
Plus we looked at that "geometric-shaped" pool on the website and it looks pretty small.
Room rates were steep this weekend at $269 a night on the hotel's own website. After reading these reviews, we probably would pass on the hotel. Especially when there are other hotels with updated decor to check out.
