It won't be ready until fall of 2009 (at the earliest, we guess) but the Nizuc resort on the Riviera Maya in Mexico sounds like it's going to be pretty fancy.

The resort will end up with a combination of properties for sale--about 150 one and two bedroom places and a few larger beachfront villas--and hotel resort style accommodation, including 16 one-bedroom condos and 45 hotel rooms.

The marketing side of Nizuc is already cranking up pretty hard, and their website even includes a short video "created by the director of Babel and 21 Grams". It's one of those atmospheric kind of videos with heavily romantic marketing slogans, and we have to say that it looks nice, but doesn't do much as far as selling us on the hotel.

However we do know that Nizuc is going to have a lot of swimming pools. In fact, they almost run the danger of having more swimming pools than guests, but for the guest, that's probably not a bad thing.

There will be a main pool, six "sculptural" swimming pools along the beachfront, 19 villas and suites that have infinity pools large enough for laps, and plunge pools in 160 residences. Oh and don't forget the ocean too.
