And then we got into our room (an estate king room); oh lordy it only got better. The massive hardwood four-poster beds are layered with Versailles linens, two period-piece armoires flank each side of the room, and a bedside Louis XV table is capped with a salt and pepper marble top.
Entering the rooms, we had to pinch ourselves a little bit and then ask if we were the first people to stay in the room...ever.
We're total bathroom hounds, and the marble topped deep tub, vanity, and molding around the spacious, light area had us howling at the moon. All the fixtures were gleaming silver antique pieces from the sink to the huge rain-shower, we couldn't have been happier. It's the kind of place where you could easily go OCD on the cleaning front just because it was so nice.
General Manager Katie Ciocca explained keeping the rooms in such perfect condition takes a lot of work from the hotel staff including washing all the white linens with all-natural Vaska detergent on site. This kind of attention to detail is what separates Les Mars Hotel from other new hotels of the last five years. The styling is not modern. It is classic and immaculate. The service reflects the same kind of cordial elegance.
Completing the old world luxury circle, Les Mars Hotel is also the home of Cyrus, a Michelin Star-rated restaurant serving some of the finest high cuisine in America. Starting at $475 a night we see Les Mars as a value compared to other properties that cost twice as much and offer half as little in terms of authenticity, imagination, and dignified committed service.
