The bed was extremely comfortable and what gets us is the way Klein is able to create an understated private elegance at his hotels. In this case, you are able to get a quiet nights sleep amongst the bustle of Times Square, no small feat.
Furthermore, despite the fact that there is no lobby and no nightlife here it worked for us. City Club gave off the vibe of a small New York apartment building, then again, maybe we have just fallen under Klein's spell. Thinking back we enjoyed an in-room Fiji water at both Klein hotels, so maybe he laced the Fiji water, Jim Jones style.
Nah, we will go on the theory that instead of concentrating on hotel empire building he has made the best of what he has -- a small hotel in New York, and a historically relevant place in WeHo. With taxes, you will end up paying right near $300/night all in. The $300 mark is looking like the typical "night near Times Square" price for the summer of '08, believe it or not.
