Hotel Swag: Because You Need a Ceramic Hen From Sofitel

We are kinda used to online hotel shops that offer beds, bathroom accessories and bath robes, and even alarm clocks or bedlights don't seem too far of a stretch. But then we hit the Sofitel online shop, named "SoBoutique", and we found a few, well, odd items available for purchase there.

Yes, SoBoutique has the usual list of bedroom and bathroom accessories, and we can live with that. But checking the "design" tab of their online shop for Europe (there's a separate site for North America) brings you to a page of glass balls, Gatsby lamps and last of all: Francine the hen. That's her in the picture.

Apparently (and excuse our posh design ignorance here) Francine the hen was designed by a Belgian artist named Catherine Hunter who has a huge collection of hen, rooster and chick ceramics.

We're not sure what the exact connection is between Francine the hen and Sofitel hotels, but don't recall seeing a hen any Sofitel room we've seen.

And if you like or need a Francine, go ahead--she won't be gracing our mantelpiece any time soon because the cost (without postage) is a not small €145 (US$225).

For the record, the Gatsby lamp is over a thousand bucks, so we can't even bear to write about it. However, the North America site has some more reasonable options with actual tie-ins to Sofitel hotels like the Buddha hand sculptures found at the Sofitel Chicago and very randomly, the Aeron Chair from the Sofitel conference rooms.
