Baseball Hotels :: Brooklyn's Le Bleu for Cyclones Action

Summertime...hot dogs, apple pie, and...baseball! In New York, there are literally hundreds of hotel choices giving you easy access to the subways and trains to get to Yankee and Shea Stadium.

We've rounded up some good hotels near MLB Stadiums but what about the minor league for a serious taste of the working man's ballgame? You can take the Staten Island Ferry for free to see the Staten Island Yankees, but trust us, you don't want to stay overnight on "Stranded Island."

Then there's the Brooklyn Cyclones, the borough's nod to its Dodgers history, and just as popular (the park reports attendance has already surpassed two million attendees).

Brooklyn has limited hotel crashpads, but the hotel closest to the action is Hotel Le Bleu in Park Slope. This small hotel, with 48 rooms, is as near to the diamond as you can get, and an underhand toss to the local subway that gets you out to Keyspan Park.

After a night at the park, come back to the hotel's Vue bar, with a panoramic view of the New York City skyline. The hotels have modern tricked-out rooms with touches of blue (of course), and after a game with extra innings, it's definitely not as far afield as Manhattan for a return trip.

But a few words of caution: TripAdvisor reviews report the restaurant is still under construction, the location itself isn't exactly scenic, and the front desk can use a few pointers in guest relations (as well as general knowledge of the neighborhood).

Still, if you have a hankering for minor league ball, this may be as close a place as you can crash for the money.

    ...and the answer is...

Get back on the ferry and go back to Manhattan!

Seriously, the SI Yankees stadium is about a 10-minute walk to the ferry slip, and when the boat leaves you off on the NYC side, the terminal sits right over the 1 line and it's a three-block walk to the 4/5/6.  Plus the ride is free.

Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.  There's supposed to be lots of development in Downtown Brooklyn with the New Jersey Nets moving there, so watch out for that!
