The Maya Suite is as big as an apartment, with a kitchen, dining table for six, a full living room set, and two queen beds with iron headboards. Two separate blue tile baths each have their own whirlpool tub and there's a family-sized walk-in closet. For parties, no decorating necessary in the Fiesta Penthouse: there are already hanging piñatas, two terraces for cocktails, and dinner seating for eight.
A series of courtyards and gardens are in the center, along with a lap pool and a tile whirlpool built for 12. The hotel's hip Nirvana restaurant serves up fusion food in a dramatic space and is a popular hotspot. Rates here are only a smidgen below those at Dos Casas and Casa de Sierra Nevada though, at $275 to $370 a night before taxes.
As we wrap up this San Miguel de Allende report, you may have noticed that all four hotels have had the word "casa" (house) in them. Design flair is abundant in these parts, but naming imagination is not. A few we skipped: Casa Diana, Casa de los Olivos, Casa Liza, Casa Rosada, Casa Mision de San Miguel, Casa Quetzel, Casa de Aves, Casa Carmen, Casa Schuck, oh enough already!
