Marco Polo Hotel Attracts Guests Using Long Chopsticks

The annual Dubai Shopping Festival seems to signal the silly season for Dubai hotels. Last year, five hotels got together to create the world's longest food buffet. For the record, it included 515 different dishes.

This year, the Marco Polo Hotel, which was involved in last year's buffet record, went it alone to get their own immortal place in the Guinness Book of World Records. And they were successful, gaining their world record by creating the world's longest pair of wooden chopsticks. At 22.5 feet in length, we can't imagine anybody will be eating a meal with them, but the Marco Polo people are damn proud about it.

In any case, if you want to see the giant chopsticks you'll have to try the Marco Polo Hotel itself, a three-start establishment that's actually located in Deira, the older part of Dubai (and possibly more interesting). It is still only a ten-minute drive from all those malls, and with average rates around US$180 per night, is a reasonably priced stay too. Just be wary if the waiter asks you whether you want to eat with a knife and fork or chopsticks.
