Marriott Sells Expensive Bears

March 5, 2008 at 8:55 AM | by | Comments (5)

Browsing the online ShopMarriott, the online portal for buying all the merchandise that Marriott Hotels creates, we were a bit disturbed to discover that the large-sized Marriott Bear will set us back $96. It's not even that cute. Granted, $24 of this goes to a food bank charity but if we were ever somehow persuaded that we needed a Marriott Bear, we'd go for the small one ($16).

While we could almost imagine giving a Marriott Bear a cuddle, another item on sale under the Marriott brand is something altogether too irritating--one of those projection alarm clocks. Not only does it tell you the time, and is always correct since it's got one of those atomic sensor things, but it then projects the time in large figures onto whatever surface you choose.

We've seen these before and our immediate thought is always how dreadful it must be to be having a sleepless night and to see these huge digital figures ticking over slowly on the ceiling above you. But there are gadget geeks who go for this sort of thing, and they'd be pleased to hear the Marriott projection alarm clock will also display the indoor temperature and humidity, and at $39, it's a lot cheaper than the large bear.

If $24 goes to charity, then these things should cost $25...

Re: Marriott Sells Expensive Bears

Re: Marriott Sells Expensive Bears

and i actually prefer this type of bear to the W's depressed one. it looks like my dog does when i don't give him some of my cheeseburger.

Re: Marriott Sells Expensive Bears

the more i stare at the bear, the more it looks like bill marriott.  i don't want the bear anymore.
