Classic décor, more like a gentlemen's club than a hotel proper. The lounge is all wood panelling and big armchairs and old French paintings. Rooms are subdued greys and royal blues and heavy velvet and cotton fabrics. They're all individual, though, decorated with paintings and whatnots that the owner picked up in Paris's many flea markets. And small - floor space is at a premium in this area.
You'll have to pay extra for breakfast and WiFi (and a huge amount for laundry), so we'd recommend you skip the breakfast and grab a croissant in one of the thousands of cafés and boulangeries in the area. And the downside of a tourist-centre hotel is that you'll get touristy prices outside the front door. If you stay here for the sightseeing, take a metro to a cheaper spot for dinner and night-time japes.
Rates from 150 ($235) for a double room, not including breakfast. It's not free, but you won't find anything cheaper and better in the area. We can't help repeating ourselves - if you're after an authentic, budget holiday in Paris, stay in a place outside of the touristy centres.
