Hotel Opening Rates:: $119 a Night at The Westin Riverfront at Beaver Creek

We always get excited about hotel opening rates as it's usually means way cheaper rates than what you can expect from an "established" hotel.

And while we are excited that the brand-new Westin in Avon/Beaver Creek, Colo. has opened up the reservations line, the actual opening is still a loooong time away.

The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa will open in August 2008 but the place has just started taking reservations. Rooms are starting at $119 a night in the summer and $250 a night for early ski season.

Actually, that's something that we would recommend booking now--your ski trip because rooms at ski resorts either sell out fast or hotels charge outrageous prices during peak season.

Still, no matter what time of year you book--summer's trail-biking season or winter's ski and snowboarding season--the room options should be spacious enough to store you and your gear.

Studio suites include a living area with fireplace and a kitchenette offering a refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave, and service for six. One, two, and three bedrooms units offer a full kitchen with a separate living room with sofa bed, fireplace, and dining area.

The hotel's located at the base of Beaver Creek mountain and guests will have direct access to the Riverfront Express Gondola literally right outside the hotel's front door.

The Westin is also vying for a LEED certification. Some green practices include roof tiles made rom recycled tires, guest recycling stations on every floor and preferred parking for hybrid cars.

Additionally, there will be a 23,000-sq.ft. Spa Anjali and the Center for Wellness and a signature restaurant by chef Thomas Salamunovich.
