[Ed. Note: From high teas to indoor hotel pools in the Smokies, Hotel Maven JetSetCD certainly lives up to her name. Enjoy.]

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennesee might be known best as the home of Dollyworld, but it's Gatlinburg's Glenstone Lodge which holds the power in this area where gimmicks and indoor pools reign supreme.

The Smoky Moutains aren't exactly a luxury destination, and you can't expect mints on pillows in a region hotly anticipating the spring "Wildflower Pilgrimmage" and "An Evening with Jimbo Whaley." It's not secret that Gatlinburg's hotel offerings are outdated and still survive on depositing a sheaf of pamphlets in the entryway at the nearest IHOP.

That said, the least of all evils is the Glenstone Lodge, with its activity atrium and "largest indoor swimming pool in the Smoky Mountains."

With musty rooms averaging between $65-$115, you can afford to use it simply as a place to crash...or swim! Their pride, that indoor pool, is indeed massive with 2 levels of aquatic nirvana: 2 pools, one water-falling into the other, a hot tub tucked partially behind the waterfall, and another much taller waterfall with a hidden stairway allowing children to jump out through the falls and into the pool below.

Most of the rooms look into this setting, which is very much like a Barbie plastic lagoon set. Did we mention there's an outdoor pool also?

In a major development, the Glenstone Lodge website has just announced WiFi access in every room, although no word on whether it'll cost or not.

If you go, let us know...and watch out for the insurance conventions. Gatlinburg is one non-stop insurance convention.
