Today, the hotel has many ways of encouraging guests to be green as well. From suggesting guests take a man-powered boat instead of a taxi (which often turns out to be quicker anyway), to room sensors that automatically shut down all lights and appliances when guests leave a room, and of course the now-obligatory re-usable towel and linen program, there are energy savings made all over the hotel and beyond.
But the best one sounds like the solar energy system--it heats all of the hot water needed for the whole hotel. Something that works especially well in a sunny country like Thailand, of course. And the extra good news is that a night at the Old Bangkok Inn usually costs around $97, so you can save the earth and your back pocket at the same time.
