Kimpton's VU Hotel to Start at $425 a Night

The NYT had a short bit on the new VU Hotel from Kimpton Hotels which is set to open in Manhattan's Clinton (formerly Hell's Kitchen) neighborhood sometime this summer.

The guest rooms will be loft-inspired, with high ceilings, stone-tiled bathrooms and abstract art on the walls, as well as plasma televisions and iPod docking stations. The 15th-floor lounge will have a 2,000-square-foot glass-enclosed bar, rendered above, as well as a hot tub and reflecting pool. A sun deck on top of the building will have another hot tub.

The place sounds hip, hipper than most Kimptons we've seen and the 15th floor lounge is bound to have killer views of the city and across the Hudson river. But of course all that comes at a price. Room rates are expected to start at $425 a night.
