HotelChatter || Finding Hotels in the Seville Haystack

Part of what we love about Seville is its tiny cobblestone streets, the boisterous tapas bars at every turn and its consistently Moorish architecture, despite the occasional Starbucks-ian eyesore.

But all of this also makes Seville's hotels incredibly hard to spot. Without large, luminous logos to signal here is the Occidental, here is the Best Western, the hotels, on the outside, almost fade into the background.

Seville, in fact, has myriad hotels, with some more popular than others for various reasons. For those who like to be centrally located, you can do no better than Alminar Hotel, just steps from Seville's most famous attraction, The Cathedral. (More than that, a number of shops and restaurants also are nearby.)

If luxury is your M.O., the boutique Corral del Rey beats out Starwood's Hotel Alfonso XIII for its careful restoration of what was once a 17th-century palace. (Seasoned travelers might want to check out Corral del Rey's sister property, Hacienda de San Rafael, located just outside of Seville on a former olive estate.)

Of course, this is meant as no offense to the Alfonso XIII, which is probably Seville's most famous hotel. Commissioned to be the most luxurious hotel by the king of Spain in 1928, the Alfonso XIII is part of Starwood's Luxury Collection and one of the few chain-operated properties in the city.

This is not to suggest the property lacks character, it just means guests know what to expect in from a stay here, unlike say, one of Seville's many hostels. Plus, who can resist procuring Preferred Guest points?

So there. Despite appearances, you now know that hotels do, in fact, exist in Seville. It's just up to you to find them.
