As we told you last week, the Dakota Mountain Lodge in Park City, Utah was picked to be the first ski resort in the Waldorf-Astoria Collection which includes the original Waldorf in NYC, the Beverly Hilton, the Arizona Biltmore and the Grand Wailea resort in Maui. The resort will be a part of The Canyons, Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort.
However, the hotel is still under construction. This here is a rendering of what the place will look like from the slopes once completed in 2009. In fact, that's the The Canyons’ new Frostwood Gondola, which is also under construction and will be adjacent to the Dakota Mountain Lodge. Now that's a true "ski-in" ski-out" type of place.
As for what's inside the hotel:
The 197-guestroom Dakota Mountain Lodge will range in room size from studios to the six-bedroom penthouse and will be outfitted with the finest furnishings including custom Viking appliances, European showers, Jacuzzi tubs, and an outdoor pool and fire feature – all presenting refined alpine luxury.
There will also be a signature restaurant and lounge as well as a ballroom on site.
And since every luxury ski resort must have a spa, the Dakota doesn't skimp here. The lodge will be home to the next Golden Door Spa, a 20,000-sq.ft. facility that will house 20 treatment rooms, 20,000-square-foot world-renowned Golden Door Spa consisting of 20 treatment rooms, a fitness center and a full beauty salon. Because you're going to need to do something about that ski hat head.
Lastly, since this is Park City, home to Sundance, the Dakota Lodge will be have special screening rooms, perfect for festival goers/movie execs.
