HotelChatter || A New Ice Hotel: W Reykjavik in Iceland

The W will be part of the Icelandic National Concert-Conference Center and Hotel which will house the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, according to this presentation report. (Note: The link opens a PDF).

There's not much here about the hotel except that it will have 400 rooms. The concert hall center is expected to open sometime in 2009. Somehow we are more excited for W Reykjavik then W Hoboken.

I noted that the presentation was dated 2006, and Starwood never announced a W in Reykjavik. Would love to see them do this, but it seems more a concept than a sure thing at this point. The Icelandic economy is a shambles right now.

yeah i noticed the date too but the icelandic concert hall is being constructed so its possible they are just waiting for better economic times to seal the deal. of course, i am just speculating...
