Guess the Hotel Revealed!

Last week we were fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the upcoming Gansevoort South in Miami Beach which we have been dying to see for quite some time now.

The hotel is aiming to open the second week of March and that will be a true soft opening, meaning only a few floors will be open but they will open both the main pool area overlooking the beach and the rooftop pool, as well as the Beach Club. Also the restaurant by the pool and in-room dining will be up and running. And don't forget about the shark tank!

Speaking of the public areas, we weren't allowed to snap any pics of the lobby or pool or rooftop but we were able to see two suites.

If you need eye candy now, check out the room photos below which have notes.

More details on the hotel after the jump.

Gansevoort South

# of Rooms: 334 rooms. 86 of these are suites with balconies. 200 of the rooms have balconies and 104 have balconies, kitchenettes and small living areas.

Sq. Footage: Double guestrooms, the starting room category, range from 435 to 500-sq.ft. Deluxe Double, a room with an 80-sq.ft. balcony measures 600 to 700 sq. ft.

Amenities: Complimentary beach bags, complimentary WiFi, yoga mats in room, 40" flat screen TV, Sony's Dream Stereo system, fully stocked mini-bars, kitchenettes and Nespresso Machines in suites, glass walk-in showers with dual shower heads, and DVD/CD Player with iPod docks.

Also at turndown you are given Gansevoort slippers which have Gs embedded in the soles so when you walk in the sand, people know where you are staying.

Pools: The Gansevoort will have a main infinity pool overlooking the beach which is surrounded by a 40,000-sq.ft. pool deck. But the more popular pool will be the rooftop which is 110-feet and has unreal views of the ocean and the bay. Even better, since it's a pool by day and a lounge by night no one under 18 is allowed.

Other Things to Do: The hotel spans a whole city block so there is much more than a lobby and a restaurant here. The hotel will have its own boutique store as well as David Barton gym, Cutler Hair Salon and restaurants Philippe by Philippe Chow and STK from the ONE group. Plus other retail shops will round-out the first floor like Big Drop and Wilhemina Models will open an office here.

Additionally, all the other things you love to do in Miami (deep sea fishing, golf, private yacht charters, etc.) along with meetings and events can be arranged through the Gansevoort.

Price: Introductory rates start at $495 a night but regular rack rates will be closer to $600.

It's nice. But with all the options available in Miami Beach at this price... I dunno. The competition is getting thick. The Setai is still king for modern style and rad views-- just avoid the one of the public parking structure of course.

True, Miami is a crazy scene. I should think that if I could visit Miami and NOT have to drive down Collins Ave, then it will be a great trip.

But that's what makes the Gansevoort cool (even though its on Collins Ave!) You can feasibly do everything here--sleep, surf, party, shop, eat, dance--and not have to leave the compound.

Ok, maybe I would leave to go to the Shops at Bal Harbour but that's probably it.
