The Betsy Will Open Early Next Year, But She's Not Sure When
We received a press release today giving us a heads up on the opening of the newly renovated Betsy Hotel in South Beach (formerly the Betsy Ross Hotel). If you'll recall, The Betsy's new rooms, in all their preppy white and lavender glory, got us all excited back in the summertime — but we hadn't heard too much from little miss Betsy since.
We suppose the aim of sending out the buzz was to remind us that the new look was still on its way and that the multimillion dollar renovation would end soon — but as for when it will officially open its doors? Well, we still dunno exactly.
The "tropical colonial" hotel has 63 rooms and suites beneath a lovely rooftop will that will act as the "key social focus" for guests, as well as a spa, a pool and a BLT Steak. It's all slated to open at the beginning of 2009, but we were a bit confused as to when we could start making reservations and such. We called the hotel directly and were told that they haven't quite decided on a precise opening date just yet, but we could count on "the end of January or the beginning of February" for the grand re-opening and the reservations line should be going live "in a month or so."
Don't make promises you can't keep, miss Betsy.
