The Cooper Square May Be the Nightmare Before Christmas

Excited to check out the almost-finished building facade, we headed downtown to stalk The Cooper Square Hotel today. We snapped this photo around 10:30 am — and yes, this is the scene at the same Cooper Square Hotel that is supposed to open up on Thursday. As you can see, we expected to find something resembling a completed hotel and instead stumbled upon what appears to be the Manhattan edition of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Does this hotel look like it's going to be ready in two days? No. It really doesn't. It really, really doesn't.

Normally we'd shrug and figure things will all be okay after lots of hard work over the 48 hours, but considering the glacial pace of the construction thus far — delay after delay — we're sincerely worried.

We've got our fingers crossed for you, Cooper Square.
