Even more Miami hotel openings are on the horizon in 2009. Today we just got word that the Viceroy Miami will open in February. The hotel will combine 168 hotel guest rooms with ICON Brickell residences and interior design by Kor Hotels' designer Kelly Wearstler.

Viceroy Miami’s residentially appointed guestrooms and suites display Wearstler’s exquisite taste, with luxurious comforts, personalized touches and the latest modern necessities. On the 15th floor, with views across Miami, Viceroy’s signature restaurant will serve simply prepared seafood accentuated by Latin and Asian flavors in an indoor-outdoor setting overlooking ICON Brickell’s impressive pool.

Delicate inlaid screens underscore its East Asian décor, as does a sleek 27-foot bar of swirling onyx. Open to the public, the restaurant spills out onto a two-acre deck that unites the ICON towers and houses an array of whimsical amenities and entertainment options.

Other impressive amenities include a "meandering" 300-foot water feature with a wading pool, a 50-person hot tub and the longest infinity-edge pool in Florida, poolside Café Icon, an outdoor fireplace, a life-size chess set, and a 28,000 square-foot urban spa.

On the 50th floor will be Club 50, the city's most exclusive indoor-outdoor lounge and rooftop pool with views of the city. Inside the rooms, amenities feature 42" plasma TVs, balconies, kitchenettes, iPod dock stations, and one touch guest services.

Since our mouths were practically drooling at this point we decided to check on the room rates. And we found that online reservations aren't technically beginning until March 1st. Room rates are starting at $400 for a Viceroy King but if you have the dough please book the two-bedroom residence at $1,760 a night and send us photos.

Yet there is an introductory offer for hotel guests called, "Memeto Vivere" (Remember to Live), a pampering package of soothing spa treatments.

The package starts at $1,050 which sounds a little high but you get two nights in a Viceroy King Room, a spa lunch, a body treatment or canvas massage (both custom-designed for you), a Viceroy signature spa treatment, and the Blooming Flower Hand and Foot Ritual. These spa treatments are worth about $750 alone. The treatment is valid from February until May 31, 2009. Taxes and gratuities are not included. Call (866) 781-9924 to book or go online.

oh noes...

i hope that bird does not peck out my eyes while im sleeping.

A beautiful hotel

Nicer than the Fontainebleau. It has an old world gentlemens club feel to it plus a great infinity pool overlooking parts of downtown Miami. But because it's downtown and not a tourist destination, there's no way clientèle will support that room rate. And if I see one more Miami hotel with Asian influences, I'll consider hara-kiri.

over sobe

i am sort of over the sobe scene and wouldn't mind staying in downtown. i just cannot deal with all the traffic and clusterfucks near collins and ocean drive.

More luxury supply off the beach

its risky business.  I wouldn't bet on them making their numbers even if the hotel is packed with goodies.  Maybe it will get hot as a flavor of the month and ramp up decently though.

If not SOBE...

Juliana, downtown Miami is no nicer than downtown anywhere else. If you don't like SOBE {and I'm with you on that}, then the next time you're in South Florida try the Biltmore in Coral Gables, anything in Coconut Grove {The Mayfair is better than it's reputation; the Sonesta is excellent; the Ritz is the Ritz} or even better still, head 25 miles north to Ft. Lauderdale. The hotel beach scene is up and coming and it's calmer than SOBE but still fun.
