Perhaps we spoke too soon. Inside intelligence just revealed that The Standard will not be opening to anyone, not even "friends and family" on December 10, unless a miracle happens.

The new, just-released date is now December 21, if they're lucky. They are still taking requests for dates between December 10 and the 21st, but nothing is guaranteed and we're betting everything hinges on securing permits. Should they secure everything in time to open on December 21, we wonder if there will be anyone left in town willing to bunk in a construction site during the holiday. Rest assured that will kept a sharp eye on this.

looks like a building from the 1970s in an industrial city. can they fix that before Dec. 21st too?

in the sunshine it looks like Brasilia

I biked past yet again this morning and marveled at what a hideous eyesore this is on our waterfront--a marked contrast to the "W" under construction just across the river.

Now Taking Reservations The Standard NYC

I have noticed on website of The Standard Hotels message that they taking reservations for The Standard NYC. I filled in the form for two nights stay for the end of february '09 but no reaction from hotel's reservation department so far ( 4 days later and still waiting). Let's hope this is not the service which you will get once hotel is really open;)

I agree, Archie102. I did the same - filled out their online reservation form days ago and have not yet heard back. Already their customer relations is about to alienate possible guests.
